Barn Village - Steamboat Springs, Colorado

The Barn Village Subdivision has very strong design guidelines with the intent of creating a walking neighborhood. All the houses must have front porches and many lots, including this one, have rear alleyways so that garages do not face the street. This corner lot, while small, has great views to the east toward Mount Werner. We created a floor plan so that the Great Room, Dining, Kitchen, Master Bedroom, Porch, Patio Area and two secondary bedrooms, would all have views of the mountain. A planting berm is used to shield the Patio from the street and lend privacy to the interior. We raised a portion of the roof in the Great Room to provide better views of the top of the ski mountain. Exposed Timber Post and Beam structure defines the individual spaces within an open floor plan while creating a warm and inviting interior.
